Admiral Updates – November 2024

Over the past month, our development team has been hard at work delivering a host of improvements, bug fixes, and exciting new features to make Admiral even better for our users. Here’s a quick rundown of the highlights from November:

Backup Improvements & Updates

Backups are now smarter and more efficient! With the rapid growth of the Admiral Platform, enhancing efficiency has been a top priority. That’s why we’ve streamlined the automation process. Instead of creating daily duplicates, the system checks for configuration changes and only generates a new file when updates are detected. A helpful checkmark icon in the backup listing confirms when a daily backup has successfully completed.

Additional enhancements include:

  • Improved Backup Display: The backup list now shows only the date and is sorted with the most recent backups first for easier navigation.
  • “Clean Backups” Button: This new feature scans a router’s backups and removes duplicate files, ensuring that only unique changes are retained. From now on, only backups with configuration changes will be saved—unless triggered manually.

Bug fixes include:

  • Fixed an issue where routers with special characters in their names failed backups and appeared offline in the uptime graph.
  • Applied a retroactive fix to resolve historical uptime graph data for affected routers.

New Feature: MailGun Custom Email Integration

We’re excited to introduce custom email integration for Dedicated Admirals! This new capability allows administrators to send emails using custom or default email settings directly from the Admin Settings.

  • Optimized for MailGun: While this feature is designed to work seamlessly with MailGun, you can also test it with other SMTP email accounts. However, please note that non-MailGun accounts are not officially supported.

This new integration provides greater flexibility and control over your platform communications.

NEW FEATURE: Top Talkers

We’ve added a brand-new Top Talkers report to help you identify the routers generating the most traffic in your network. You’ll find this feature under Reports > Top Talkers.

Here’s what you need to know about this feature:

  • WAN-Only Data: The report currently displays data for detectable WAN interfaces. Multi-WAN and LTE interfaces are not yet supported, but we’re working on expanding compatibility in future updates.

Thank you for being a part of Admiral! We’re always striving to improve and deliver features that make your network management easier and more efficient. Got feedback or suggestions? Let us know—we’d love to hear from you.

Stay tuned for more updates next month!
